It’s not an ideal scenario that an actor can portray similar roles in different types of movies and there are many few people who can effectively pull that off. Rosario Dawson, it seems, is not one of them.
That’s not to say that Dawson is a bad actress or anything but there was one particular instance where she found herself on the wrong side of things. The actress voiced the role of Wonder Woman in a 2019 DCAU film. Well, it wasn’t one of her best projects.
What happened in the DCAU should stay in the DCAU!
Although the film wasn’t necessarily that bad, fans weren’t too happy with how Rosario Dawson voiced the role of Diana Prince in the 2019 movie. The film, titled, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines received praise for its animation and fight sequences. The scripting of the film, however, was not upto par.
That’s where Rosario Dawson came in. Known for portraying the role of Claire Temple in the 2015 Netflix show Daredevil, Dawson had become people’s favorite for a while.
When she voiced the role of Wonder Woman, however, fans weren’t too happy about it. Having an intriguing story of Diana Prince protecting Themyscira from Doctor Poison and other enemies who want to invade her homeland, people felt that the script was simply too weak compared to the grand scheme of things in the movie.
Not just Wonder Woman and Claire Temple but Rosario Dawson is known for portraying the iconic role of Ahsoka in the Star Wars franchise too. Well, back in the day, the actress was given two choices at once: the Star Wars or the Star Trek franchise. Dawson… chose the former.
Rosario Dawson thought about joining the Star Trek franchise
The choice was indeed a difficult one since the Star Trek franchise was getting an overhaul while the Star Wars franchise was continuing beyond just movies. Well, Rosario Dawson was given a choice to star in any one of them.
Although most people know Dawson for his portrayal as Ahsoka Tano in the Star Wars franchise, the actress revealed (via The Telegram) that she could have been something different if she had chosen the Star Trek franchise.
I could have been one of Odo’s species, the changeling. I could have been an immortal puddle guys. Do you understand my pain? That would have been really cool.
She further continued,
I also really pushed to be a ‘Q.’ My dad. That was my dad, ‘Be Q.’ I’m like, I’m trying. Right? Then I can be, you know, annoying…cause chaos, which I love.’
As fate would have it, we got to see Rosario Dawson portray the role of Ahsoka Tano in the Star Wars franchise and voice the role of Wonder Woman in Wonder Woman: Bloodlines.
The 2019 DCAU film currently stands at a rating of 5.9/10 on IMDb and a contradictory 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Wonder Woman: Bloodlines is available to rent on AppleTV+.
