William Shatner is as legendary an actor as they come. Spending decades cultivating one of the most iconic filmographies in the industry, he became immortalized through his work as Captain James T. Kirk in the Star Trek franchise. Being an icon for this, he continues to be a part of several works from this franchise.

However, things have certainly died down for the franchise compared to its prime. Shatner himself has grown up quite a lot since starring in the timeless Star Trek films from the 80s. Now being past 90, many of his fans wonder what he is doing now.
Considering all that he has been through in his life, the answer is quite impressive.
William Shatner has seen some dark times
Over the years, William Shatner has seen a lot of highs and lows. While his professional life has been magnificent, his personal life has seen some low points. More specifically, the actor has fought many battles when it comes to his health. According to Today, the actor suffers from tinnitus, or ringing in the ears.

This happened because of been exposed to loud noises several times in his life. Specifically, he was exposed to a loud blast in one of the Star Trek, films which seriously aided his condition. For this, he uses “effective management tools, and today considers himself habituated to the sound,”
Unfortunately for the actor, this wasn’t the only health problem he had to deal with. In 2024, he revealed that he was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma, or skin cancer after he found a lump near his right ear. He has been treated for this and is now a cancer survivor.
William Shatner never let his light fade
After going through so much, many can lose the brightness that once made them who they are. However, William Shatner did not let this happen to him. Despite being ninety-three years old, he is still going strong and being just as full of life as he was in his younger years.

He is still very involved in the film industry, having just starred in 765874, which has gotten excellent reviews from critics, possessing a 9.1 rating on IMDb. Additionally, he has even more projects coming out in the coming months, set to star in Keeper of the Cup and The Elevator.
On top of starring in films, he is also making them, acting as a producer and writer on several projects. He is also very active on social media, frequently posting on X and even getting into a controversy every now and then after being online for too long.

Shatner also released a book in 2022, titled Boldly Go: Reflections on a Life of Awe and Wonder, detailing his experiences on the sets of Star Trek. Despite having a battle with cancer, the actor focused on his victory, and he is still as iconic as ever.
