Watching Star Trek: The Next Generation always reminds me just how amazing Patrick Stewart is as Captain Picard. But did you know that the legendary actor also starred in a wild comedy series called Blunt Talk? Yes, the show ran for two seasons, and the actor played a British anchor trying to make it big in America.

The very premise of the show suggests just how chaotic and hilarious the scenes would be. While it was cancelled soon, Blunt Talk would definitely be a fun and surprising role for all the Patrick Stewart fans and presents him in a totally unexpected role you’ve never seen before.

Did you Patrick Stewart once played a British newscaster?

Lately, I’ve been deep into a re-watch of Star Trek: The Next Generation – and honestly, it’s just as brilliant as ever. But for me, the character that always stood out from the rest would definitely be Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard. He played the role with such precision that even decades later, fans rave about his acting chops.

But viewers who have religiously followed the actor and his work may be unaware of his other role, which is quite different from what he played on TNG. Interestingly, Stewart was a part of a show called Blunt Talk – a wild and chaotic comedy series. This was far away from the captain’s chair as you can possibly imagine.

It aired for two seasons on Starz back in 2015-2016 and didn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserved. So, if you’re a Patrick Stewart fan or just curious about what happens when one of the most serious actors in sci-fi throws himself into comedy, it’s absolutely worth checking out.

In Blunt Talk, he plays the role of Walter Blunt, who’s a British newscaster trying to make it big in America. And unlike the disciplined Picard, Blunt is a complete mess and gets caught in scandal after scandal. But through it all, the actor fully commits to the madness, delivering a performance that’s hilarious and somehow still weirdly entertaining.

X-Men legends returning for Avengers: Doomsday

Big news for all the Marvel fans in the house – two iconic X-Men franchise actors are returning. Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart are all set to make an appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to hit theatres in May 2026.

McKellen will return as Magneto, a role he hasn’t played since X-Men: Days of Future Past in 2014. And Stewart will be stepping back into the role of Professor X despite dying three times. He was last seen as Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022.

This announcement has truly surprised fans who cannot wait to see the legendary actors back in action. Along with these two, other notable names such as Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), and Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), to name a few, have also been added to the roster.

Robert Downey Jr. would be leading the movie as the villain, Doctor Doom. Given the stellar cast, Avengers: Doomsday is already shaping up to be a massive hit.
