Comics books have weird crossovers all the time. The Punisher has shown up in Riverdale to hang out with Archie and his pals. The Green Lantern Corp has inducted Apes from Planet of the Apes into its ranks. The Batman has had so many crossover with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, that it’s practically a once in two years even. So, it is not all that odd that audiences have seen the X-Men rub shoulders with the crew of the Enterprise.

While the X-Men were onboard the Enterprise, Spock was responsible for escorting them to the deck of the ship. However, when one of the more hot-headed members of the team refused to cooperate, the ever-stoic half-Vulcan decided he did not have time for their nonsense, and quickly dispatched them with his famous Vulcan Nerve Pinch, something that fans attest to this day as a signifier of the character’s power.

The X-Men who received the nerve pinch was none other than Wolverine

Wolverine, no doubt, is one of the strongest characters in the ranks of the X-Men. With his gratuitous healing factor and indestructible adamantium skeleton, along with his signature claws, the character is one of the most versatile heroes of the X-Men. Wolverine is the go-to character for black ops missions for mutants, having been a part of X-Force, and other more violent teams. However, despite the wealth of experience that the character has, Wolverine is the one who lept at Spock, refusing to cooperate.

Spock, quick with his moves, subdued the angry mutant by using his Vulcan Nerve Pinch, taking the character out immediately, While this is something Star Trek fans keep coming back to time and time again to prove how effective the pinch is, Wolverine recovered from the affects of the move fairly quickly, thanks to his healing factor, before getting the jump of Spock, who had perhaps not anticipated the power of the mutant.

Odd, cross-company crossovers are the bread and butter of superhero comics

Be it Plane of the Apes crossing over with Green Lantern, The Justice League with the Power Rangers, or Marvel Comics with Attack on Titan, comics have always had weird cross-company crossovers that have expanded their fan base and their horizons beyond the confines of the characters that they own the rights to.

Even now, when with ongoing crossovers like Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, comic book publishers have maintained these traditions of the odd crossovers, which not only serve as a great marketing tool but also allow fans to enjoy official material. This gives them consensus on how certain concepts from diverse universes would interact.
